Wednesday 18th April 2012 saw New Zealand pop artist Bic Runga come to London to play at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Runga has had an extremely successful career in New Zealand, with three of her four albums reaching number one. The Queen honoured her in 2006, when she became a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. She has achieved success in Australia, UK and Ireland. Runga’s debut album, Drive, was released in 1997 and instantly shot her to fame around the world. The single Sway was released in 4 countries; including the UK and Germany, and featured in hit US film American Pie. She subsequently released 3 studio albums between 2002 and 2011, including the album ‘Birds’, which went triple platinum. Her newest album Belle was released in November 2011, which has lead to an extensive tour of New Zealand and this one off show in London. WinkBall reporters Fred McCormack and Archie Ogugua went to the Shepherds Bush Empire to talk to fans and find out why they love the Bic Runga and also get their reviews of her gig.
