The Goldsboro Books Glass Bell Award is a new annual award worth £2,000 that will celebrate contemporary fiction. The prize is for a novel written in English and published the previous year in the UK. Open to both established and debut authors, the Award will be judged by Managing Director David Headley and his team at Goldsboro Books. WinkBall reporters Jeremy Inson and Andrew Anilkumar attended the awards ceremony to find out from guests what makes contemporary fiction so strong?
Jeremy Inson has spent his career asking people questions. As a journalist he has interviewed everyone from Olympic champions to government ministers, finding out their story and telling it. Since setting out on his career he has worked for international television stations and AP and AFP, two of the big three international news agencies. Jeremy’s main interest is sport and he has reported from five Olympic Games, one FIFA Football World Cup and three Rugby World Cups. His career highlight? Reporting on Usain Bolt announcing himself to the world at Beijing 2008.
Andrew is an MA student at Met Filmschool in London studying to become a director. He has worked at WinkBall for two years and has gained lots of experience as a videographer, editor, interviewer, and presenter. His best work includes an exclusive interview with fashion designer Simon Carter and his press coverage for the Audrey Hepburn auction at Christies, London.
