The Urban Music Awards is the worlds leading HipHop, R&B, Grime, Soul, Jazz, Gospel and EDM awards ceremony launched in the UK and now held annually in over 7 countries including the UK, USA, France, Africa, Caribbean, Asia, and South America. The UMAs was born out of the need to build a worldwide awards ceremony to recognise the achievement of urban based artists, producers, club nights, dj’s , radio stations, record labels and artist from the current Dance/R&B, HipHop, Neo Soul, Jazz, and dance music scene. WinkBall was delighted to be invited to be cover this prestigous music awards with our reporters Gully Singh and Louise Gookey.
Louise is London based presenter with a love for lifestyle and entertainment. Originally training in musical theatre Louise has now moved into the world of presenting as well as being a trained journalist. Having built up an impressive portfolio Louise has worked with teams over at Showbiz TV, Property TV, she has hosted both the National Film awards and the National Reality TV Awards and has presented on Juice FM, Radio Jackie and currently for Vibe 107.6.
Glaswegian Gully, now based in London, is a versatile DJ/Radio presenter aiming for the top. Having only found his love for music rather later in life than many others, his adaptability and passion for Djing and radio has seen him work for the likes of BBC 1xtra and support artists such as Wiley & Tinchy Stryder. From 1st DJing out live in 2005, Gully has came a long way and now finds himself closer now than ever to achieving his dream. As a former member of the Urban Asian collective, Gtown Desi, Gully has delivered guest mixes for the likes of Bobby Friction (BBC Asian Network), Mistajam (BBC Radio 1/1xtra), DJ Kayper (BBC Asian Network), CJ Beatz (BBC 1xtra), DJ Stylus (Unity Radio) and Marcus Bronzy (BBC 1xtra/Bang Radio). Gully is now a member of the WinkBall network and has created some brilliant reports for us such as the ITV gala and the ITV Asian Media Awards in London and Manchester.
