We hope you will come down to Redon on Cambridge Heath Road in Hackney on Thursday 30th May for the Super Women launch party featuring a live talk with an array of inspiring super women to kick off the night, followed by music from DJs Femme, Georgie Rogers and Jay Carder. Founded by broadcaster, journalist and DJ Georgie Rogers (BBC 6 Music, Beats 1, Soho Radio, Foundation FM) and documentary film-maker Alice Smith (BBC, National Geographic, PBS, Discovery, Netflix, BFI), the Super Women platform brings together aspiring filmmakers to tell the stories of pioneers across the fields of music, motorsports, culture and adventure. The first film of the series will go live the same day. It features the first British woman to ride a motorcycle around the world, Elspeth Beard whose adventures were the inspiration for the project. Super Women is committed to giving opportunities to female film-makers so spread the word to anyone whod like to work in the field and meet like minded women. LIVE DISCUSSION GOING BEHIND THE LENS ON WOMEN IN FILM AND TECH 7-8pm Petra Graf Petra is a renowned cinematographer and Director of Photographer collaborating in the last 25 years with many distinguished film-makers in the UK and beyond. She has worked on numerous sensitive access projects in the most challenging environments and worked on programmes for the BBC, National Geographic and Channel 4 including Grayson Perry Rites of Passage and All Man. Amali De Alwis MBE FRSA Amali a women at the forefront of changing the face, quite literally, of the tech industry as the CEO of Code First: Girls. She’s a board member of Ada, the National College for Digital Skills and the Institute of Coding and the Code First: Girls initiative is helping 20,000 women learn to code for free by 2020. Under her leadership Code First: Girls has taught more UK women to code than the British university system. Justine Kershaw Justine is the co-founder and creative director of Blink Films. Her work pre-Blink Films sent her around the world working on television news in Romania, Moscow, Turkey, Slovenia and The Gulf. She later worked in the BBC’s Natural History Unit, making In The Wild for PBS and devising, directing and series producing Money Business for ITV’s Granada. Justine co-founded Blink in 2007 and has produced several series and specials including The Great Sperm Race, Mummifying Alan, The Brain with David Eaglemen and creating the new history format We’ll Meet Again with Anna Curry for PBS. She has 2 EMMYs, a Peabody, an RTS and a BAFTA to her name. DJS 8pm-Midnight Femme http://www.femmehq.co.uk/ Femme is an electronic/avant-pop music powerhouse. An artist, songwriter, DJ and member of Ultraista she is fresh from a run of shows at SXSW and we are so excited she is going to come down and play for us. Jay Carder https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/jaycarder London-based DJ and rising talent Jay Carder champions electronic sounds inspired by deep, tribal rhythms with her House of Carder radio show and already counts sets at Printworks, All Points East and Snowbombing to her name.
