This years theme of Mother, Muse and Maker explores the influence of women in indigenous art from New Guinea, Oceania, Indonesia, India, the Americas and Africa. A number of differing Madonna and Child images include a late 19th century carved wood Yombe mother nursing her baby, £24,000 from David Malik; and a rare and fine terracotta Mumuye/Dalakari maternity figure from Nigeria from Ian Shaw. Other highlights for sale are a highly decorated Kuba mask called ngaady a mwaash, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which depicts the wife and sister to the founding hero, Woot, priced in the region of £12,000 Philip Keith.
