The exquisite Scenes from the Lives of the Virgin and other Saints by Giovanni da Rimini, the most talented artist in 14th-century Rimini, was purchased by the National Gallery in 2015. Long thought of as part of a diptych together with a panel depicting ‘Scenes from the Life of Christ’ in the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica, Rome, the exhibition reunites the paintings, a reconstruction never before seen in the UK.
